Design
The Zen sports a 2.5-inch TFT color display with 320 x 240-pixel resolution and support for up to 16.7 million colors. This razor sharp display is packaged in a device that weighs just 2.1 ounces and measures 3.26 x 2.16 x .44 inches (W x H x D). The internal battery powers the Zen for up to 25 hours of continuous audio playback and up to five hours of continuous video playback. Use the Zen’s SD slot to expand your portable media library with music, photos and videos stored on your SD card. There’s also a handy built-in microphone for capturing notes on the go.
Features
Load up up your favorite songs, as well as your album art, and get going with the Zen. The device supports iTunes Plus tracks from the iTunes store and MP3 and WMA tracks. Subscription and pay-per-download music services are supported, as well. Discover, save, and play millions of songs when subscribing to services such as Yahoo Music Unlimited and Napster To Go. You can even tune into your favorite stations with the Zen’s FM radio. The radio allows you to save up to 34 presets.

Cautiously pleased by Suzanne G. Kerry
I am pleased with this product for the most part. Figuring out how to use it for me means going to the on line How To document. Remembering what pushing each tiny button results in will take practice. Downloading and transferring to the player is very easy and fast. My main negative: the foam rubber cushions on the (cheap) earphones fell off almost immediately. I planned on buying separate ones anyway, but still. I don’t plan to use the video component so can’t comment on that, but the audio quality is very good, for me. I just want to listen to EBooks and music; I don’t get into the real technical/quality issues. Happy with my selection.

Before purchasing the Creative Zen 8GB I did a lot of research online to determine what player would give me best value for money for the features that were most important to me which were, good storage capacity, ease of use, colour display and the option to store and play video. I previously owned a Creative Muvo N200 which has served me well and never left me disappointed. However, having a limited budget and knowing that this player would have to last me for several years before I consider upgrading again; I wanted to get the most bang for my hard earned bucks. So far I have not been disappointed.
It cannot be overstated how much detail can be shown on such a small screen. The display is sharp and crystal clear. The sound quality is excellent although I will be purchasing a better set of earphones in the future as the ones the item comes with are ok for starting out but I feel the player is held back by them.
I have had some difficulty in figuring out how to use Creative’s software and I consider myself to be fairly tech savvy. The software is windows based so if you know how to handle files and move them about, you’ll be fine with this. My advice to anyone having initial difficulties figuring out how to use the software is to just play around with it for a little while and you’ll soon get the hang of it.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of negative review of this player on Amazon, some of which I am sure are deserved, so I was a little nervous that I may have received a dud player. Therefore, when I first received it I immediately uploaded the software from the enclosed disc and I then downloaded the software updates from Creative’s website. Once I connected and charged my player I then downloaded the latest Firmware from Creative in order to avoid any complications. Only after doing this did I transfer music onto my new player.
So far I have had nothing but absolute joy from this little MP3 and I expect to get many, many happy years of use out it. If you are considering buying this MP3 then I highly, highly reccomend it and if you can’t quite decide if its right for you then I suggest you take the plunge and get it because you won’t be disappointed!
Great Player for the Price by T. Davidson
The player is great. Compact, versitile, and easy to move around the menus. The sound quality is very good, and it fits in my shirt pocket. It holds up to 2000 songs which suits me just fine. I downloaded all my songs from my C.D. collection. I have less than a G.B. left in free space on it, almost 1850 songs, and it took about fifteen minutes to download all the songs from my computer. I purchased it solely for musical purposes, so there are no photos or video on it. The only two drawbacks, is the USB port wire is way too short, and that some of the album cover art did not make it on to the player. No problem, I can live with that.

I orriginally bought this player because, frankly, I’m cheep. I like other mp3 players over ipods because you get more memory for less money but this player did not meet my needs. Yes it does put on itunes music, but not all of it. There was about 200 songs that it wouldn’t add and, of course, those were my favorite albums. Also it’s 25 hour battery is more like six.
Things I did like. You can add music from most any source on your computer which I love. All of my music in windows media is lost because I do not have a valid computer software because of a bad purchase. This player let me add that stuff. You can also get videos from anywhere which is really cool. I could put on home movies and things like that. Can’t do that with my new ipod nano.
You can put on what ever back ground that you want. Any picture, easily.
There’s Radio.
If you’re an itunes fan and like to travel don’t buy thins. However if you use maybe napster or lime wire go for it! I loved it but the poor batter and glichy adding just wasn’t enough for me.
