Small and powerful, battery lasts longer than Altec says by Pariksheet Nanda
I bought this speaker for my workplace to listen to podcasts over lunch at our outdoor bench… though I also ended up using it at my cubicle and lab table ^_^

1) The sound quality is fantastic; its very clear and outputs evenly, including very well through the bass.

2) Playing at half volume of my mp3 player (level 20/40 of my Cowon iAudio 7) is quite loud and I never need to go above that. Note that the speaker has no volume control option, but I think that would be useless anyway.

3) I’ve been using the speakers for a month now, for around 10 hours each week. Apparently playing speech and jazz isn’t heavy on regular batteries, and it’s still playing strong! Maybe the manufacturer was thinking of Rock music when they rate battery life at 25 hours…

4) The product is small enough to carry in my small wind sheeter pocket, and does not fall out as I ride my bicycle to and from work. I’ve actually dropped it 3 times from falling down - the silver mesh got dislodged once but clicked right back in, so it’s quite solidly made.

Before buying this I’ve used white Sony portable iPod speakers (comes with a power adapter) but they had poor bass and were not nearly as powerful as I wanted. The Altec is excellent quality and a steal at the price.

This is a great little speaker for a very reasonable price! It is perfect for listening to my iPod Nano on the quick, anywhere. I put it to the test recently, and it provided over 7 hours’ worth of audio, using Duracell rechargeable DX2400 AAA’s…..amazing!

Good little speaker for price. Gripes are, cable could be longer, on and off switch could be smoother. Otherwise a good small, light, portable piece of equitment to take anywhere.

This speaker is very nice! I’m satisfied with it. It’s a very good quality portable speaker! This orbit technology is very good! The sound is crystal clear, the speaker spreads sound in 360 degrees and loud enough, working at least 24 hours straight with 3 batteries. I didn’t score as 5 stars because I think the product could have a battery charge indicator.
