Amazon.com Product Description:
Set your music free as only JBL can do it with the black On Stage II iPod speaker system. The compact yet powerful high-performance system employs a quartet of Odyssey neodymium full-range drivers to fill your room with clear, accurate sound and all the volume you (and your friends and neighbors) can handle. It’s the perfect accessory for bedrooms, smallish apartments, basements, and any other space where a full-size speaker system is pure overkill.
The On Stage II incorporates Apple’s universal iPod dock adapter, which works with most docking versions of the iPod, including the iPod video 5G and 5.5G and the iPod nano 1G and 2G. Simply slide your iPod into the dock and you’re set–no additional cords to connect or adapters to fuss with. As an added convenience, the On Stage II also offers an auxiliary input for connecting a variety of other portable audio devices, including the iPod shuffle, personal MP3 and CD players, desktop and laptop computers (all platforms), and satellite radio receivers. As long as your portable audio device has a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack connection, you can play the audio through your On Stage II speaker.
As a bonus, the On Stage II comes with a wireless remote control, giving you the freedom to enjoy your music from across the room or in another room–up to 50 feet away (including through walls). The system itself, meanwhile, includes easy-to-use touch controls for the volume and mute, and even remembers your last volume setting after it shuts down. The system, which offers a frequency response of 80 Hz to 20 kHz, measures 7 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall and weighs 1 pound. It’s also backed by a one-year warranty.

Great but not 3G Nano Compatible by E. Gaede
Ok, so I was super psyched to get this. As someone who doesn’t know much about speakers, this is great. The sound is clear and powerful. However, it does not have an adaptor for the 3rd gen nano and I’m afraid that will cause a problem down the line. The remote is no where near as powerful as I’d expected and doesn’t work consistently. I emailed jbl about it and they blew me off. It does come with a one-year warranty though, so if it breaks I’ll just return to them.
Home Worker by Joseph D. Hall
I’m a musician, and work at home - the Onstage II fits right on the desktop and provide ample volume and tone quality. I especially like the (volume) control - touch sensitive - when my phone rings I simply touch the volume control and immediately I have a lower volume for phone conversations.
Love this -would highly recommend…
returned it by Alan C. Hahn
Bought this for poolside. Returned it after one hour. Not nearly enough volume for outside, although it sounded great in the kitchen. Also, it supposedly has a 50 ft. rf remote in the Amazon description, but the instruction book says 20 ft. Unfortunately, we found it hardly worked at all even at 10 ft. Zero bass response. If you can come up with $300 take a look at the brand new Kicker ik500 that was just released last month. Bass down to 50 hz. I just ordered one from Amazon and will write a review after trying it out. What the heck, if the Kicker is as good as the reviews I’ve read, this will be like bringing my living room stereo outside, bass and all. Kicker iKICK iK500 Powered speaker system for iPod®
Best speaker i’ve purchased so far by K. Trybus
I’ve owned the griffin amplifi, a set of ihome speakers and these. The on stage II win hands down. For their footprint they sound like they should be about five times the size. The best feature though is the dock adapter. Every other speaker system i’ve owned used their own dock adapters. While the onstage II comes with several, they actually use apple’s standart universal dock adapter. This means these speakers will always be future proof, as long as apple doesn’t make an ipod wider and thicker than the 4G 40GB iPod (which obviously will never happen).
Works with any dock adaptor iPod. I own a 3G Nano. I had to use the apple dock adapter, so it is white on black. Doesn’t look too bad, like I said this feature is a plus.
I haven’t spent too much time listening to it, had to warranty return my ipod (long story, its why i’ve had so many different speakers).
Another awesome feature is the dock adapter port on the speaker. You can sync and load new music on your ipod without having to remove it from the speaker. Five stars.
