Product Description:
Wireless RF (radio frequency) remote control features maximum operating range 100m. Compared to an infrared (IR) remote control, it allows you to operate the shutter from either direction / angle. It supports unique coding for anti-interference and avoiding wrong operation. 3 operations modes: At W mode, the receiver is active, you can use the transmitter to control the shutter or focus. At O mode, the receiver will be a normal remote switch, and it will not consume any power. At L mode, the receiver will lock the shutter for long exposure.

Great alternative to wired remote by Michael P. Conner
First, I’ll second the comments about the customer service and support from satechi. The company emailed me shortly after my purchase to ask whether I was happy with the remote. First rate!

The product itself works just fine once you figure out that the mode switch on the receiver doesn’t have very good detents and you have to guess/feel around for the middle position. For wireless operation, this isn’t a problem, but if you want to use the receiver in B mode for long time exposures, you need to practice a bit.

I spent a couple of hours today taking self portraits, and this remote is great for getting yourself into family shots without setting the annoying timer on the camera and rushing back into the group. This weekend I hope to surprise some of the hummingbirds in my yard with a little remotely triggered flash photography.

A must-have for serious 30D or 40D owners.
